If
you do any work with audio, you owe it to yourself - get Audacity -
it's free, it's
awesome!
You
can use it to edit the audio clips, and to convert it to other
formats. If you create music, you'll find it great for enhancing the
sound clips or adding special effects to it, such as fading away to the
last few seconds at the end, or increasing the volume. Simple things,
but also some very sophisticated filters.
There
are also a number of plugins, addons and other special versions
& oddities related to Audacity, such as a tool for transcribing and
speech analysis, created for Police investigative work (Audacity
