Q: where do you live? In the wilds of Kent, England.
N: Thirty-something
Q: As an artist, would you consider yourself a student, child, retired, professional ?
N: Professional
N: It discovered me.
Q: Which was your first Dogwaffle version?
N: version 2.1
N: Four weeks. I still have a lot to learn.
Q: Do you consider yourself an 'artist' at heart, like, do you paint, sketch, go to the Art museum etc?
N: Yes, all of these. I am an art addict.
N: Not yet, it is on my 'to do' list.
Q: what is your main profession (if you are working)
N: I'm a dispensing optician, artist, illustrator
N: Compaq Presario laptop, Windows XP (spkII) 1 gig processor with 256 RAM (I am told). 3 years old.
Q: what do you like most about Dogwaffle?
N: I love the custom brush tool, and keep finding new ways
to use it. Optipustics is fun, and the swap buffer makes life
easy. Being able to change the brush settings to get what ever
effect I want is probably the best thing.
Sometimes I work on paper first, and scan in a black ink line drawing to work on in Dogwaffle. (Millie 5). I have lots of sketches of my cats because they are such great models (they are very lazy).

N: Fully opaque layers would be nice, also some kind of
brush history so that you can switch between brushes more
easily. Maybe to be able to open more than one image at
once, and be able to cut and paste between them......
Q: do you use other 2D imaging or painting tools? Which?
N: Yes, Painter 8 and Photoshop v7

N: No.

N: Havana and Pinar del Rio are both preparatory studies for
paintings that I am going to do on canvas. I can work out the
colours and composition easily this way, and it is simple
to change it as I go. It gives me a better idea of what it
will look like than a pencil sketch would.
Dogwaffle is great for illustrations. I use a graphics
tablet and pen, and usually go right in and draw on the computer from
scratch. Sometimes I do a rough sketch on the first layer, draw
it out properly in the second, then go back and clear the first.
I then use the first layer for colour. I like the custom brush
tool for textures. This is how I did Bubbles, Cling, Search and
Flowers and Fairy. I probably spend an hour or so on most of
them.
