Important
Prerequisite
This plugin was created
for users of PD Howler 9.6/10 and beyond, and game developers alike. It
should however work very likely with most other programs based on
Project Dogwaffle, including PD Artist 9/10 and PD Particles 9, even the very old free version 1,2 of Project Dogwaffle, as long as you have access to the plugins panel (remember the keyboard shortcut "k" for killer plugins?) and can locate the 'miscellaneous' (Misc) tab within it.
NEW! There is now also a standalone version - check here
What is it?
It's a game inspired by a very old game from about 35 years ago or more, named "Asteroids". Wikipedia puts it as an arcade space shooter released in 1979 by Atari. Ah the good old times!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asteroids_(video_game)
You control your spaceship, and the only way is forward, or turn. No brakes in space. Oh and there are a bunch of asteroids flying around too. They're not your friends.
How to
Install it?
Beware: Download and save the file into the folder where your version of Dogwaffle lives, and where you'll also find other files engine with _pm.exe (plugin, miscellaneous, executable)
For most
standalone users the default path is something like one of these:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Howler
C:\Program Files (x86)\Artist
C:\Program Files (x86)\project dogwaffle
C:\Program Files (x86)\Particle9
C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Dogwaffle Professional
or similar.
But it could be elsewhere in your installation, especially if you did install it in a
location different from the default location, or if the default location
has changed over time since your old version. For installation from Steam, it may be in the
steamapp\common subfolder, such as this one, for Howler v10:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PD Howler 10
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PD Howler 9.6
Or similar.
Be sure to locate your installation folder. Then download and save the following file, and put a saved copy into your dogwaffle installed folder.
Important: Be sure to scan it once more
through your antivirus. Never trust downloaded
files, especially executable (.exe) files,
even if you trust the person who is offering it. After all, if
the site's server had been hacked, the file could have been
tampered with. So, always be on the safe side,
scan your downloads with a good, up-to-date
antivirus. We do the same, every time, no
exceptions. But also be aware that there are false positive detections - false alarms. If you need help with this, don't
hesitate to ask.
After placing a copy of the file in your dogwaffle's installation folder,
start Project Dogwaffle again so that it may discover the presence of
the new
filter and list it in the Miscellaneous filters view. Or re-launch the plugins panel (shortcut "k"). You may want to force a Refresh of the list shown, it's usually an option in a small pulldown meny along the right side of the panel.
The game plugin will be found in the "Misc" tab (miscellaneous category).
More details?
This is a free game made just for fun, and for good old
time's sake. If you remember or recognize this game, you are either an
avid retro gamer, or you might be a baby boomer :-) Either way,
this game's for you - enjoy!
How to Use it?
Find the game in the Misc. plugin panel. Double-click to run it.

Use the Arrow keys to increase/decrease the rocket's thrust, and to turn left or right.
Use Spacebar to shoot.
The Ctrl key also does something.
Look for more details at the end of the game.
