Note:  these telephone thumbnails  point to  iridium satellite phone messages streamed in Flash(tm)  format -  Flash player needed, and enable your sound system.

Note on sound control:
if you're viewing this with Internet Explorer you may be hearing the Penguin Dance background sound too. That's a midi
synth track. You may be able to reduce its volume or totally mute it in the sound controls area. Open it from the taskbar. look for a  synthesizer  or software Synth (SW Synth) and mute it. The Flash stream should continue to play (using the Wave sound channel)

Klipsi phone home 17 hours to the eclipse - weather improving
Klipsi phone home  7:30 UT, just 15 hours from eclipse, penguins are joining

Where will Klipsi be to watch the eclipse?

Near Mimi station. Along the left edge on this map by Fred Espenak/NASA:

Message from Rob Wittenmyer at UCSD:
Attached is a JPG image (572K) of Antarctica at 11:47 UT today.  It is the only pass we could get that actually covered the eclipse track; this region is a stretch for the McMurdo receiver to get, and there are often dropouts at the edge of the pass.  Darker areas are clear or thin clouds (see 66.5S 89E), bright white is cloud tops.   Latitude/longitude lines are at 1 degree intervals.

Hope this helps a bit though things don't look too good for eclipse
weather based on this image.

Will grab the umbral shadow passage images (if we get any) probably  Monday morning here; the guys at McMurdo have the eclipse passes all set up in a protected (non-overwritten) directory.
