PD Artist 9.0 is
here
PD Howler 9 was released a few weeks
ago. We now also have released the
Artist edition.
PD Artist 9 is a subset of PD Howler. It lacks
the extensive animation features and video
tools, but on the other hand, it is
significantly cheaper. PD Artist 9 is made for
those who don't animate, and who don't want to
pay for features you won't want to use. If you
later want to upgrade to Howler in order to
add the ability to work on animations, you can
do that too.
PD Artist is made for painting and rendering
on still images. But the brush system still
does actually support animbrushes. You can
still use it to load an AVI file or an image
sequence directly to the custom brush system,
making it an anim brush. And you can then
paint with that animbrush like with other
regular and particle brushes over the single
image that's in your main image buffer, or
onto one of its layers, or the swap image
buffer.

***** October sale!
******
PD Artist normally is priced at $39. We're
currently offering it with a strong discount:
You price is just $29! And you don't need a
discount coupon, this price is automatic. This
sale expires after Halloween. Scary, huh?
Of course, if you do have an earlier version,
such as PD Artist 8 or 7, you might get an
even better deal to upgrade to PD Artist 9.
Use your discount coupon or contact Philip at
http://www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/about
to request yours. To speed things up, please
tell us in your email which version of PD
Artist you have and where you bought it.
You'll get to buy the full installer of v9, so
you can install it on a newer PC too.
You can order PD Artist here:

$89. The current price through October is $79.
You can order PD Howler here:
http://www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/sales/index.html#howler
Again, there is no coupon needed for
this purchase, but if you have an additional
discount coupon, such as to upgrade from v8 or
earlier versions, use it and click
'Recalculate' in the order form to see your
final price.
Puppy Ray on
Windows XP - the patch
If you're still on Windows XP and have been
trying to use Puppy Ray with your PD Howler 9
or Artist 9, you know that there was a
problem. It didn't work.
It's been fixed, and the fix comes in the form
of a new dll file.
Look here for details:
http://www.thebest3d.com/howler/download/index.html
Look there for "Fix for Puppy Ray under
Windows XP"
Click the link, it will give you a full
description of how to proceed in order to
replace your existing dll file with the
patched replacement file.
Again, this is only for Windows XP. Do not use
this dll if you're on Vista, Windows 7 or 8.

Slideshow of 9.0
images
We have updated the slideshow of
Dogwaffle 9.0. Look here to watch and enjoy:
http://www.thebest3d.com/slideshow9/
If you prefer to browse through it on
dropbox, here's another view:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ohf46igsg5fn3ew/ol5x47CBbp
You'll recognize a bunch of images there
that were rendered in Puppy Ray. In some
cases, the background skydome that was used in
the rendering was itself also from a prior
Puppy Ray or 3D Designer rendering! It is fun
to combine new art by combining prior art.
But, there are also a few cute critters
that were created with the help of those new
toon brushes, aka 3D Stickers, included with
Howler 9 or available for free download, in
some cases even for non-Dogwaffle use, i.e.
they are generic PNG's and you're free to use
them in your other graphics programs!

Agullo can bring a little sunshine into your
life!
