Using
the Stroke Player |
Let's say this is the brush stroke we want to paint, but not over just this one frame. Let's say we want to have it repainted over all frames, in a progressive way. The first frame will need to show just the first step of the brush stroke, the following frame will show a little more, and the frames after that will show more and more until the last frame is reached where the whole brush stroke is visible. | ||||||||||
One way to do this now is with thr STroke player. Select: menu > Animation > Stroke player... |
First, to a replay test: Select the Playback at left: Current frame. Then click 'Replay'. The effect of this is that the most recently painted brush stroke will be re-rendered into the current frame. This is the same as using Shift-A, the keyboard shortcut. Evidently, that's not all we need here, so after testing this, use 'u' for undo, so that the frame is left untouched. |
Hancock mode Now select the 'Hancock' mode on the Stroke player. Make sure also that the range is indicating that all frames are selected. Click the 'Current Range' button to be sure, in case you've played with changing the number of frames or created new animations with different frame counts, or if you've inserted or deleted frames from the animation toolbar. Then, with Hancock mode selected, click 'Replay' again. This will cause the brush stroke to be re-rendered, incrementally, over all frames. You won't see the result until all done. But you will see the bounding box of the cursor moving incrementaly deeper into the frames as it's repainting. You may also see some Windows refresh glitches, or lack thereof. Just be patient and wait until it's all done. It may take a minute or more depending on your system speed, memory resources and other load parameters. Best thing is to experiment with small sizes and low frame counts at first to get a good feel for your system's ability to do this and in what timeframe. If at the end of the replay rendering the Status bar remains visible, just click the red 'x' box to close it. |

That's it, the animation now
should show the progressive advance of the brush stroke across the
frame sequence. |
Now is a good time to think what
else will show on your 3D animation with this animated texture maped on
a 3D lottery ticket. Will there be a few seconds before the scratching
starts? Will there be a few seconds thereafter during which the final
result will be seen? |
